Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity exists to deliver a thorough Clinical Neurophysiological investigative service to patients across various age groups and medical specialties, addressing a diverse array of health conditions, including those of a neurological and/or psychiatric nature.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves providing a highly specialized Clinical Neurophysiology service to patients from multiple specialties, managing a wide spectrum of medical disorders, including neurological and psychiatric issues.

Key duties include:

  1. Overseeing the organization of both clinical and administrative tasks.
  2. Ensuring the quality and audit of a specialized area within Clinical Neurophysiology service delivery.
  3. Facilitating the training and development of Clinical Physiologists (Neurophysiology) and other healthcare professionals, including medical students and nursing staff.
  4. Interpreting diagnostic results and preparing comprehensive reports.
  5. Collaborating daily with colleagues to meet service demands effectively.

Job Responsibilities

Main Duties/Key Results Areas:

  1. Continuously uphold high professional standards in Neurophysiological services, initiating corrective actions as necessary.
  2. Collaborate with other professionals and organizations to adapt services to evolving healthcare needs.
  3. Provide visible support to Neurophysiological staff in managing challenging clinical and professional situations.
  4. Participate in the planning and implementation of policies.
  5. Conduct and interpret a variety of basic and advanced Neurophysiological investigations competently.
  6. Perform Electroencephalographic (EEG) investigations using current standard techniques independently, including emergency EEGs in various clinical settings.
  7. Execute specialized EEG techniques, including activated recordings and long-term monitoring, ensuring appropriate actions are taken.
  8. Conduct all modality evoked potentials and Nerve Conduction Studies, providing guidance to referring clinicians on investigation requirements.
  9. Generate factual reports on Neurophysiological investigations that contribute to the overall final report.
  10. Engage in research and development initiatives.
  11. Maintain continuous professional development relevant to the range of Neurophysiology services provided.
  12. Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of recording equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to service.

Qualifications and Training

Essential:

  • BSc (Hons) in Clinical Physiology (Neurophysiology) or equivalent formal specialist training, along with knowledge of specialist procedures acquired through advanced training or experience.

Desirable:

  • Additional qualifications or experience in relevant areas.

Experience

Essential:

  • A minimum of five years of post-qualification experience, with practical familiarity in a range of basic and advanced Neurophysiological investigations.

Desirable:

  • Experience in supervisory or management roles, as well as work-based assessment experience.
