Position Overview

The Clinical Support Specialist will operate under the direct guidance of the Senior Practice Nurse, adhering strictly to established protocols and guidelines. The primary responsibility will be to perform venepuncture for blood sample collection, exclusively upon direct referral from a General Practitioner or Nurse Practitioner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient comfort and obtain consent for blood sample collection.
  • Collect blood samples in accordance with established training and procedures.
  • Store samples in designated containers to maintain integrity.
  • Label all samples accurately to confirm patient identity.
  • Verify patient identification against requests from healthcare providers.
  • Document blood sample collection in patient records as per practice protocols.
  • Dispatch samples to laboratories promptly.
  • Report any discrepancies to a senior staff member.
  • Inform the healthcare provider of any significant patient concerns.
  • Conduct basic patient assessments, including blood pressure, weight, and height measurements.
  • Assist in the monitoring, recording, and replenishment of clinical supplies and equipment as directed.
  • Manage vaccine storage and ensure proper stock rotation.
  • Support the administrative team as needed.
