We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Fellow in Trauma and Orthopaedics to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have a strong background in general trauma and orthopaedics, with a particular interest in complex knee problems, trauma, and post-trauma reconstruction of the knee.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior post-CCT trainee to enhance their skills in the management of various knee conditions. The appointee will have experience in the field of general trauma and orthopaedics and excellent communication skills, as they will be working closely with multidisciplinary teams.
The Senior Fellow will play a crucial role in the knee team, with access to elective and trauma theatre sessions, as well as outpatient clinics. This will involve complex acute knee trauma and elective conditions, with opportunities to work on major trauma and routine knee cases.
The post is for a period of 6 months, with the possibility of extension for a further 6 months. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the team's clinical inpatient load, including pre-operative planning and post-operative care in conjunction with the consultant.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out independent operating lists, including joint replacement, soft tissue operations, and fracture fixation
- Undertake independent lists consisting of joint replacement, soft tissue operations, and fracture fixation
- Provide day-to-day administration of the team's clinical inpatient load
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to manage complex knee problems
- Medical Degree from a recognised University
- MRCS or equivalent
- A minimum of 3 years full-time postgraduate training in Trauma & Orthopaedics
- Experience in Trauma & Orthopaedics with acute on-call commitments
