Position Overview

Aquatic Safety Officer

Compensation: £19,650 annually (£25,168 full-time equivalent). This equates to £12.10 per hour, or £13.56 when including holiday remuneration.

Brighton College is looking to recruit an Aquatic Safety Officer

Reporting to: Head of Sports and Science Facilities

Role Objective: The main objective of this position is to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals utilizing the swimming pool facilities. We are in search of a dedicated Aquatic Safety Officer for a full-time, permanent role, specifically during term-time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain vigilant observation of pool patrons and swiftly identify and respond to potential hazards;
  • Communicate and enforce safety protocols and regulations to safeguard all users;
  • Exhibit composure in emergency scenarios;
  • Execute emergency rescues and provide initial care until professional medical assistance arrives;
  • Deliver a warm and professional greeting to all visitors;
  • Foster a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all users;
  • Ensure timely setup and breakdown of scheduled activities;
  • Perform daily cleaning tasks to uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, in collaboration with the cleaning team;
  • Assist in the arrangement of sports equipment and oversee related activities;
  • Be well-versed in the institution's Health & Safety Policy and its application across all facilities;
  • Fulfill any other reasonable requests from management.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates must possess a current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • First Aid Certification
  • Manual Handling Training
  • COSHH Awareness
  • Child Protection Training

Work Schedule:

40 hours per week, distributed across seven days, including early, late, and weekend shifts.

Leave Entitlement:

Holiday allowance is included in the salary for this position, with all leave to be taken outside of working weeks.
