About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mobile Mechanical Fitter to join our team at Tarmac Trading Limited. As a Mobile Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our production equipment by responding to plant breakdowns and undertaking emergency repairs in a timely and efficient manner.

Main Responsibilities
  • Respond to plant breakdowns and ensure assets are returned to production in a timely manner.
  • Undertake emergency breakdown repairs on all production equipment.
  • Own small-scale projects and deliver them in a pragmatic and proactive manner.
  • Take a cost-conscious approach to maintenance activities and coordinate with contractors and suppliers when on site.
  • Participate in root cause analysis to eliminate repeat failures.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the engineering function through your own observations and experience.
  • Work with risk assessments and method statements to prepare and develop safe working methods for repair procedures.
  • Maintain and promote Health & Safety rules and regulations, following all company processes and procedures.
  • Challenging unsafe conditions and practices, reporting them through company procedures.
  • Utilize the computerized maintenance management system and record all work, including fault descriptions, spares used, and repairs carried out.
Requirements
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Proven experience working within an industrial, factory, or similar environment as a Mobile Fitter.
  • Recognized apprenticeship (preferably a higher-level standard).
  • ONC/HNC (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong, practical mechanical systems background, heavy industry preferred.
  • Experience of welding and fabricating to a good standard and able to remove and fit bearings.
  • Fault-finding ability to identify defects and recommend appropriate action.
  • Capable of undertaking emergency breakdown repairs in a timely and efficient manner on all production equipment.
  • IT literate, capable of using PCs, common applications, and company systems.
  • Competent in the use of application-based inspection schemes.
  • Ability to assess SHE risks arising from work activities and control risks accordingly.
  • Knowledge of site-specific SHE procedures and Safe Working Practices.
  • Suitable candidates will possess CPC or be willing to train.
