Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mobile Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team at Tarmac Dolyhir/Strinds Quarry and Asphalt Plant. As a key member of our engineering function, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our plant and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to plant breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal production.
  • Undertake emergency breakdown repairs on all production equipment, utilizing your expertise in mechanical systems and heavy industry.
  • Liaise with the Section Manager to plan and execute preventative maintenance activities, including shutdowns and small-scale projects.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our engineering function, identifying areas for improvement and implementing cost-effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with contractors and suppliers to ensure seamless execution of maintenance activities.
  • Participate in root cause analysis to eliminate repeat failures and optimize maintenance activities.
  • Develop and maintain safe working methods for repair procedures, adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Utilize our computerized maintenance management system to record all work, including fault descriptions, spares used, and repairs carried out.

Requirements

  • Recognized apprenticeship in a relevant trade (preferably higher-level standard).
  • ONC/HNC in a related field (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong practical mechanical systems background, with experience in heavy industry (conveyors, drive systems, motors, belts, pumps, gearboxes, crushers, vibratory screens).
  • Proven fault-finding ability to identify defects and recommend appropriate action.
  • Ability to remove and fit bearings.
  • Capacity to undertake emergency breakdown repairs in a timely and efficient manner on all production equipment.
  • Knowledge of site-specific SHE procedures and Safe Working Practices.
