Objective of the Position:

As a leading global aerospace organization pioneering advancements in aircraft electrification and electric propulsion technologies, we are seeking a Senior Engineer to spearhead the mechanical design of electronic and electrical products. This includes overseeing new product development from initial concept to operational deployment, as well as providing support for existing product lines.

Key Responsibilities

- Execute the mechanical design of motors and electronic/electrical products, ensuring compliance with customer specifications regarding technical performance, cost efficiency, weight considerations, reliability, environmental impact, and maintainability.

- Generate comprehensive design schemes, which encompass CAD models, assemblies, and 2D drawings for both conceptual and detailed designs.

- Conduct thorough analysis of mechanical designs to identify and mitigate risks, and specify additional testing requirements as necessary to validate the design.

- Document all design processes meticulously, prepare design schemes, and participate in or lead essential design reviews.

- Collaborate within an integrated product team, engaging with specialized engineers (Stress, Materials, Integration, Manufacturing, etc.) to interpret relevant analysis and test data for issue resolution.

- Liaise closely with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure accurate interpretation of design intent and to provide guidance for enhancing product quality.

- Offer technical expertise to customers, project teams, and other functional areas in support of both new and established products, including providing input for supplier selection and management.

- Adhere to Collins Aerospace procedures while leading necessary design reviews, and provide process guidance to junior designers.

- Manage work packages, ensuring progress reporting and compliance with project milestones to meet established targets and timelines.

- Support project development initiatives, ensuring the technical integrity of products while meeting all performance, reliability, cost, and safety standards.

Qualifications & Skills

The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of technical leadership and experience in the design and development of rotating machinery or related fields.

- A degree (or equivalent qualification/experience) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is required.

- A solid technical background in all facets of motor and mechanical packaging for electronic products, including mechanical chassis design, PCB packaging, and complex wiring and harness design within an aerospace context (or an acceptable equivalent) is essential.

- A strong understanding of engineering materials and relevant production methods is necessary.

- Excellent analytical skills to evaluate and resolve complex technical challenges, with the ability to generate innovative ideas and leverage diverse specialist skills for effective design solutions.

- Strong communication skills, both formal and informal, to effectively interact with peers, team members, suppliers, and customers.

- Proven time management abilities, with a proactive approach to planning work efficiently to meet established milestones.
