Objective of the Position:

As a leading entity in the aerospace sector, specializing in innovative technology for aircraft electrification and electric propulsion systems, we are seeking a Senior Engineer to spearhead the mechanical design of electronic and electrical products. This role encompasses both the development of new products from initial concept to operational status and the enhancement of existing offerings.

Key Responsibilities

- Execute the mechanical design for motors and electronic/electrical products, ensuring compliance with customer specifications regarding technical performance, cost efficiency, weight considerations, reliability, environmental impact, and maintainability.

- Generate comprehensive design schemes, including CAD models, assemblies, and 2D drawings for both conceptual and detailed designs.

- Conduct thorough analysis of mechanical designs to identify and mitigate risks, and specify additional testing requirements as necessary to validate the designs.

- Maintain meticulous documentation of the design process, prepare design schemes, and participate in or lead all essential design reviews.

- Collaborate within an integrated product team, engaging with specialist engineers (Stress, Materials, Integration, Manufacturing, etc.) to interpret relevant analysis and test data, addressing and resolving issues effectively.

- Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure accurate interpretation of design intent and provide guidance aimed at enhancing product quality.

- Offer technical expertise to customers, project teams, and other functional groups in support of both new and established products, as well as contribute technical insights for supplier selection and management.

- Adhere to Collins Aerospace procedures while leading necessary design reviews, and provide process guidance to junior designers.

- Manage work packages, ensuring progress reporting and compliance with agreed milestones to meet project needs and timelines.

- Support project development by ensuring the technical integrity of products, meeting all performance, reliability, cost, and safety standards.

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven history of technical leadership and possess experience in the design and development of rotating machinery or related fields.

- A degree (or equivalent qualification/experience) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is required.

- A solid technical background in all facets of motor and mechanical packaging for electronic products, including mechanical chassis design, PCB packaging, and complex wiring and harness design within an aerospace context (or an acceptable equivalent) is essential.

- Understanding of engineering materials and relevant production methods is a must.

- Strong analytical skills to evaluate and resolve complex technical challenges, with the ability to generate original ideas and leverage various specialist skills for effective design solutions.

- Excellent communication skills, both formal and informal, to engage with peers, team members, suppliers, and customers.

- Strong time management abilities, demonstrating proactivity and efficient work planning to meet established milestones.
