Role Overview:

As a leading player in the aerospace sector, Raytheon Technologies is seeking a Senior Engineer to spearhead the mechanical design of electronic and electrical products. This role encompasses the entire lifecycle of product development, from initial concept to operational deployment, as well as the enhancement of existing products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute the mechanical design for motors and electronic/electrical products, ensuring compliance with customer specifications related to technical performance, cost, weight, reliability, environmental standards, and maintainability.
  • Develop comprehensive design schemes, including CAD models, assemblies, and detailed 2D drawings for both conceptual and detailed designs.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of mechanical designs to identify risks and specify necessary testing to validate design integrity.
  • Document all design processes meticulously, prepare design schemes, and participate in or lead essential design reviews.
  • Collaborate within an integrated product team, engaging with specialist engineers (Stress, Materials, Integration, Manufacturing, etc.) to interpret relevant analysis and test data for effective issue resolution.
  • Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure accurate interpretation of design intentions and provide guidance for product quality enhancement.
  • Offer technical expertise to customers, project teams, and other functional areas in support of both new and existing products, including supplier selection and management.
  • Adhere to Raytheon Technologies procedures while leading design reviews and providing process guidance to junior designers.
  • Manage work packages, reporting on progress and ensuring compliance with project milestones and targets.
  • Support project development, ensuring the technical integrity of products while meeting performance, reliability, cost, and safety standards.

Required Skills & Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of technical leadership and experience in the design and development of rotating machinery or similar fields.

  • A degree (or equivalent qualification/experience) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is essential.
  • A solid technical background in all aspects of motor and mechanical packaging of electronic products, including chassis design, PCB packaging, and complex wiring within an aerospace context (or acceptable equivalent) is required.
  • A strong understanding of engineering materials and relevant production methods is necessary.
  • Excellent analytical skills to evaluate and resolve complex technical challenges, with the ability to innovate and integrate various specialist skills for effective design solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, both formal and informal, to engage effectively with peers, team members, suppliers, and customers.
  • Effective time management skills, with a proactive approach to planning work to meet established milestones.
