Job Description

**Commercial Director - Portfolio Management**

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Director to join our team at Strabag UK Limited. As a key member of our commercial operations team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of projects and ensuring that our commercial strategy is aligned with our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Management and Development: Lead and develop a high-performing team of commercial practitioners, providing guidance and support to ensure they have the skills and knowledge required to excel in their roles.
  • Commercial Strategy and Planning: Collaborate with our functional manager to design and implement a commercial strategy for our portfolio of projects, ensuring that we maximize our revenue and profitability.
  • Contract Management: Ensure that our commercial practitioners administer contracts correctly and in a timely manner, minimizing the risk of disputes and ensuring that our contractual obligations are met.
  • Risk Management: Identify, mitigate, and manage risks and opportunities for our portfolio of work, ensuring that we are always aware of potential threats and opportunities.
  • Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage our cash flow, ensuring that we have sufficient funds to meet our financial obligations and maximize our profitability.
  • Insurance and Risk Management: Identify and advise on insurance-related issues, including professional indemnity insurance, and ensure that our risk management processes are robust and effective.
  • Margin Improvement: Develop and implement margin improvement plans for each project, ensuring that we maximize our revenue and profitability.
  • Client Disputes: Handle client disputes, including issues outside of the contract, in a professional and timely manner.
  • Commercial Audits: Conduct commercial audits on other areas of the business as required, ensuring that our commercial operations are aligned with our business objectives.
Requirements:
  • Commercial Experience: Proven experience in a commercial role in the construction industry, with a strong understanding of standard forms of contract and standard methods of measurement.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead and develop a high-performing team.
  • Commercial Acumen: Commercially astute, with a strong understanding of commercial operations and the ability to make informed decisions.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
