London, Greater London, United Kingdom Royal Shakespeare Company Full time

Are you a seasoned HR professional with a background in the arts and cultural sector? Do you excel in fostering a positive organizational culture? Are you adept at navigating a multifaceted work environment? Can you effectively collaborate with stakeholders, Trade Unions, and employee engagement groups to achieve favorable results?

We are seeking a knowledgeable HR Business Partner to deliver exceptional HR support to stakeholders within our various departments, including productions and international engagements.

This is a remarkable opportunity to join an esteemed organization, known for its acclaimed productions. We have ambitious plans to enhance our artistic initiatives both locally and globally. This position will play a vital role in executing our People and Culture strategy, which is essential for achieving our strategic goals, by partnering closely with senior management and departmental leaders. You will provide insightful advice, coaching, and support that empowers each department and its members to excel.

Reporting to the Head of HR and collaborating with a team of HR professionals, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Serving as the primary HR partner for designated departments and stakeholders.
  • Coaching, advising, and constructively challenging senior management on various HR matters, processes, policies, and procedures to facilitate the achievement of strategic people objectives.
  • Assisting managers with intricate employee relations matters, including case management, organizational changes, redundancies, and contractual advice.
  • Promoting employee engagement within partner departments by guiding and supporting managers in cultivating a positive team environment and collaborating with employee forums and unions.
  • Enhancing capabilities within partner departments by working with HR colleagues to develop talent and succession plans, fostering a culture of high performance.
  • Proactively collaborating with HR colleagues to review and refine HR processes, policies, and procedures to ensure organizational efficiency and compliance with employment legislation.
  • Advocating for an inclusive culture, promoting equitable practices, and addressing unproductive ones.

To be considered for this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • CIPD level 5 certification or equivalent experience.
  • Comprehensive HR experience in a complex organizational setting.
  • Proven experience managing a variety of intricate employee relations issues, including organizational changes, grievances, disciplinary actions, investigations, and performance management.
  • Experience within the arts and cultural sector.
  • Current knowledge of UK Employment Law and best HR practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and flexible.
  • Comfortable managing a high volume of work with multiple priorities and stakeholders.

This position is offered as a permanent role and includes a probationary period. The HR department operates on a hybrid model, allowing flexibility in work location to best meet the needs of the team and the organization. Typically, team members work an average of three days on-site each week, though this may vary based on specific tasks.

The standard working hours are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with the understanding that additional hours may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.
