Urology Care Assistant

Position Overview
We are looking for a dedicated Healthcare Support Worker to join our dynamic Urology team. This role is essential in providing exceptional care to patients within a busy clinical environment. The Urology Department is staffed by a team of experienced professionals, including consultants, clinical fellows, and junior doctors, all committed to delivering high-quality healthcare.
The successful candidate will be involved in the management of patient care on the ward, ensuring that urology inpatients receive top-notch treatment. Additionally, there will be opportunities to gain experience in theatre and outpatient settings. The role includes collaboration with triage nurses to manage emergency urology admissions, providing invaluable training in emergency care.
This position is a fixed-term appointment, designed to offer a comprehensive experience similar to that of a training post, with a structured timetable that includes clinical governance and educational meetings.
Key Responsibilities
The Healthcare Support Worker will hold clinical and professional accountability for their assigned patients. Responsibilities include:
- Keeping patients and their families informed about their health status.
- Engaging patients in the decision-making process regarding their treatment options.
- Upholding professional standards as outlined by regulatory bodies.
Additional duties may encompass:
- Maintaining accurate patient records and documentation.
- Delegating tasks appropriately within the care team.
- Continuously enhancing skills and knowledge in the field.
