SPECIALIST IN PEDIATRIC UROLOGY SERVICES
We are seeking applications for a pivotal role within the Department of Pediatric Surgery and Urology at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, specifically within the Children's Hospital. This is a substantive full-time position that plays a crucial role in delivering advanced regional pediatric urology services, which includes outreach support to various healthcare providers.
The selected candidate will be expected to participate in the general pediatric surgical consultant acute rota, which includes out-of-hours responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the post-holder will be centered at the West Wing of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, with the understanding that flexibility to work across multiple Trust locations is a requirement of the role.
Clinical Duties
The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of tertiary-level pediatric surgical care, as well as participate in acute general and neonatal surgery as part of the on-call rota. Collaboration with fellow members of the pediatric surgical and urology teams, including clinical nurse specialists, is essential to ensure high-quality care for children and their families.
The role will necessitate travel to various sites for surgical sessions and outpatient clinics, with appropriate travel time allocated to facilitate this.
An indicative timetable and job plan are available in the attached job description. The final job plan will be established in consultation with the clinical director upon appointment and will be subject to review after a specified period.
Working Environment
The two Directorates are managed by Clinical Directors and supported by Operational Service Managers, Matrons, and other relevant professionals. The Head of Midwifery oversees the professional leadership of Midwives within the Trust and the broader community for Women's Services. Services are provided across three hospital sites, ensuring comprehensive care delivery.
The Children's & Women's Division aims to lead in the UK as a provider of both standard and specialized services. This Division is committed to responsive, patient-centered care, utilizing dynamic care pathways based on the best available evidence. The goal is to be the preferred hospital for patients, general practitioners, and commissioners, backed by a distinguished academic center known for its contributions to medical care, research, and clinical education, while maintaining financial sustainability and long-term growth.
