Bohunt Horsham is seeking a dedicated and innovative Food Technology Educator for the upcoming academic year. We are in search of an individual who embraces diverse narratives within their teaching approach and is enthusiastic about integrating new concepts into their curriculum. This role will also involve some instruction in Design Technology.

At Bohunt Horsham, we prioritize equipping students with the vocabulary necessary to engage in meaningful discussions about significant global issues. The ideal candidate will recognize the curriculum as a storytelling medium and view language development as a critical component of education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborating with the Headteacher, Head of Faculty, and fellow educators to design and enhance courses, teaching materials, and assessment methods.
  • Participating in the review and advancement of curriculum-related activities and pastoral responsibilities.
  • Overseeing and coordinating the efforts of other teaching staff.
  • Delivering a comprehensive, relevant, and tailored curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
  • Monitoring and supporting the academic and personal growth of students as a teacher/form tutor.
  • Encouraging a learning environment that allows students to reach their full potential.
  • Contributing to the elevation of student performance and achievement.
  • Supporting the school's commitment to fostering personal and academic development for all students.
  • Designing well-structured lesson plans.
  • Taking charge of personal professional growth and ensuring exemplary teaching practices.
  • Providing extracurricular opportunities that enhance subject learning, such as performances and sports events.
  • Keeping subject knowledge current and relevant.
  • Assisting in the development of departmental resources and curriculum frameworks.
  • Preparing for and adapting to changes in educational practices and curriculum standards.
  • Participating in departmental meetings and contributing to the extracurricular program.
  • Exhibiting outstanding teaching practices.
  • Executing teaching responsibilities in alignment with the school's curriculum and national standards.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to create and implement study programs.
  • Working with support staff to set and achieve student attainment goals based on data analysis.
  • Assigning work for students who are unable to attend school.
  • Grading and returning assignments promptly, providing constructive feedback.
  • Establishing learning objectives and tracking progress toward those goals.
  • Conducting annual reviews of student performance and assessing the impact of teaching methods.
  • Writing student reports as part of the academic review process.
  • Engaging with parents during consultation evenings.
  • Adhering to the Code of Practice for Special Educational Needs and maintaining quality assurance standards.
  • Upholding the school's aims and values as outlined in the School Development Plan.
  • Staying informed about national developments in education and best practices.
  • Participating in performance management processes.
  • Fostering positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Setting a professional example in terms of appearance, punctuality, and attendance.
  • Complying with the Trust's code of conduct.
  • Engaging in staff training and taking initiative in personal professional development.
  • Building connections with governors and local educational networks.
  • Actively seeking feedback from parents and students as part of the evaluation process.
  • Serving as a form tutor and supporting the overall well-being of students.
  • Participating in cross-curricular initiatives and school events.
  • Contributing to the organization of educational trips and activities.
  • Supervising students during non-classroom times.
  • Displaying student work in the classroom.
  • Attending meetings and events as required.
