We are seeking a seasoned Financial Executive Officer to become a vital part of our innovative organization.

Established in 2003, Alpha Schools has rapidly evolved into one of the leading operators of independent educational institutions in the UK. We manage 19 schools, serving a diverse range of students from infants as young as 4 months to young adults up to 18 years.

About the Role

Contract type: Permanent, full-time, office-based

Salary: Based on experience

As the Financial Executive Officer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with stakeholders to craft and execute the organization's financial strategy, offering expert advice on corporate finance issues while critically evaluating assumptions and decision-making processes;
  • Supervising the creation and distribution of financial statements, analyzing these reports to provide insights and recommendations that drive growth;
  • Overseeing cash flow management;
  • Leading the budgeting process, which includes preparing and managing budgets across all entities;
  • Enhancing the organization's processes to optimize efficiency and achieve exceptional outcomes. By guiding the financial function, you will contribute to business growth and establish a solid framework for financial operations, mergers, acquisitions, and strategic initiatives.

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Possesses substantial experience as a Financial Executive Officer or in a senior financial leadership capacity;
  • Is a fully qualified chartered accountant (ACA or ACCA);
  • Has extensive expertise in corporate financial management and strategic planning;
  • Brings experience in mergers and acquisitions, financial forecasting, risk management, and corporate financial legislation;
  • Is skilled in preparing management accounts and proficient in financial software and systems, particularly Xero.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities;
  • The capability to effectively manage and lead a team;
  • Strong financial insight and analytical capabilities;
  • Familiarity with the independent education sector (preferred).
