Morgan Sindall Plc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bid Management Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our bid management team, you will be responsible for planning and managing all aspects of the bid process to give us the best possible chance of success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and Manage the Bid Process: Develop and implement a comprehensive bid plan, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to deliver a high-quality bid.
  • Conduct Sector and Client Research: Conduct thorough research on the sector and client to identify industry best practices, client 'hot buttons,' and win themes for incorporation into the bid.
  • Lead Bid Development: Lead the development of the win plan and win strategy, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned and working towards a common goal.
  • Coordinate Governance Process: Coordinate and lead the governance process, ensuring that all necessary approvals are in place and that the bid is compliant with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure Bid Quality: Ensure that all bids are of the highest quality, meeting the client's requirements and exceeding their expectations.
  • Manage Stakeholders: Manage stakeholders, including designers, supply chain partners, and other external parties, to ensure that their needs are met and that they are aligned with the bid strategy.
  • Develop and Maintain Bid Programme: Develop and maintain a clear bid programme, ensuring that all stakeholders are aware of their roles and responsibilities and that the bid is progressing as planned.
  • Allocate Resources: Allocate resources, including personnel and budget, to ensure that the bid is completed on time and within budget.
  • Lead Bid Meetings: Plan, arrange, and lead bid meetings, including win plan reviews, kick-off meetings, progress meetings, risk workshops, design meetings, and settlement meetings.
  • Record and Analyze Issues: Record, analyze, and manage issues, risks, opportunities, and change throughout the bid process.
  • Provide Support and Guidance: Provide support and guidance to other bid team members, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
  • Ensure Client Requirements: Ensure that all client requirements are understood and reflected within the bid.
  • Actively Contribute to Settlement and Adjudication: Actively contribute to the internal settlement and adjudication process, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to deliver a successful bid.
  • Review and Improve: Review the written proposal for compliance, accuracy, and suitability, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Lead Tender Presentations: Lead tender presentations, interviews, and negotiations with clients, ensuring that the bid is presented in the best possible light.
  • Share Learning and Best Practices: Share learning and best practices with the bid team, ensuring that all stakeholders are aware of the latest developments and trends in the industry.
Requirements
  • Educated to Degree Level or Equivalent: A degree in a relevant field, such as business, engineering, or construction.
  • Bid Management Training: Bid management training, such as Shipley or the Winning Bids Masterclass.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient User of Microsoft Office: Proficient user of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Previous Bid Management Experience: Previous experience in bid management, preferably in a similar infrastructure environment.
  • Experience Managing Designers and Stakeholders: Experience managing designers and stakeholders, including supply chain partners and other external parties.
  • Excellent Knowledge of Construction Industry Practices: Excellent knowledge of construction industry practices and standards.
  • Strong Understanding of Commercial Aspects of Bids: Strong understanding of commercial aspects of bids, including typical terms and conditions and procurement models.
