Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to and implement Customs Compliance procedures and documentation, ensuring accurate and timely completion of all necessary paperwork.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, providing exceptional service and support to meet their export needs.
  • Complete retrospective Customs compliance actions, ensuring all necessary corrections are made in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Manage and coordinate Customs entry for Specialist License movements, ensuring all necessary documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Ensure the Job File is fully and accurately completed, reflecting all commercially relevant information and services provided.
  • Liaise directly with Carriers and Handling Agents to resolve exceptions and discrepancies as they arise.
  • Liaise directly with DGF departments on shipment planning and coordination, ensuring seamless execution of export operations.
  • Liaise directly with DGF Transport & Warehouse teams on shipment planning and coordination, ensuring timely and efficient movement of goods.
  • Liaise directly with overseas offices on shipment planning and coordination, ensuring global trade operations run smoothly.
  • Maintain and update DfT compliance, ensuring all necessary documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Maintain mandatory milestones and remarks through Cargowise, ensuring all necessary information is accurately recorded.
  • Manage allocated customers against agreed SOP, ensuring exceptional service and support is provided.
  • Use Cargowise to create, manage and maintain Airfreight shipments, ensuring accurate and timely execution of export operations.
  • Perform any other duties as required, ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of export operations.
  • Support the measurement of Key Performance Indicators, ensuring continuous improvement and optimization of export operations.
  • Contribute to the First Choice continuous improvement program, ensuring a culture of excellence and innovation within the team.
  • Participate in the Weekly Team briefing sessions, ensuring open communication and collaboration within the team.
  • Complete all statutory and mandatory training, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Experience within the Freight Forwarding Industry, with a strong understanding of export operations and customs regulations.
  • 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at Grade C or above – or equivalent desirable.
  • Experience of HMRC procedures, with a strong understanding of customs compliance and regulations.
  • Commercial awareness, with a strong understanding of the global trade industry.
  • Clear and concise communication skills (written and spoken), with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to follow processes and procedures, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to support a culture of continuous improvement, with a strong commitment to excellence and innovation.
  • Inter-personal skills - Influencing, communication, relationship management, cultural awareness and ability to work across teams.
  • Knowledge of Freight Forwarding industry: Exports, exports and related processes.
