Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and strategic communicator to take on the role of Vice President of Media Relations within J.P. Morgan's Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB) Communications team. This position will focus on managing Media Relations for the Markets, Securities Services, and Research sectors, particularly within the EMEA region.

As the Vice President of Media Relations, you will cultivate strong partnerships with business leaders to offer strategic counsel on generating impactful narratives in top-tier mainstream, trade, and regional media outlets. Your responsibilities will also include overseeing reactive media interactions. This role will require collaboration with functional partners and communications teams across EMEA and globally to present a unified narrative that aligns with business goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead proactive and reactive media engagement for the Markets, Securities Services, and Research sectors.
  • Establish and maintain close relationships with business leaders to create proactive communication strategies that align with corporate objectives.
  • Manage daily interactions with financial journalists, providing insights and commentary from the bank's representatives.
  • Ensure journalists have appropriate access to the firm's extensive network of Research analysts and their publications.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with key media personnel.
  • Identify opportunities for commentary and craft pitches for thought leadership in financial and international media.
  • Oversee the creation of key messaging for various business sectors to support spokespersons across the organization.
  • Coordinate logistics for media interviews and background discussions, supporting spokespersons throughout these engagements.
  • Assist in generating analysis and measurement reports for the regional Marketing & Communications team, including maintaining media lists.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Proven experience in agency or in-house media relations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders confidently.
  • A keen understanding of news trends within the financial services, trading, and market infrastructure sectors.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, a profound respect for journalism, and a strong desire to learn about market dynamics and technology.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, capable of managing multiple high-priority initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to make informed media judgment calls.
  • Proactive attitude with a strong work ethic.
  • Capacity to work independently while taking direction from multiple supervisors in a timely manner.
  • Commitment to upholding the firm’s high standards related to risk, compliance, and ethical conduct.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in supporting banking or financial services organizations.
  • A degree in Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism.
