Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic communicator to take on the role of Vice President of Media Relations within J.P. Morgan's Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB) Communications team. This position will primarily focus on the EMEA region, overseeing Media Relations for our Markets (trading & sales), Securities Services, and Research divisions.

As the Vice President of Media Relations, you will cultivate strong partnerships with business leaders to offer strategic counsel and insights aimed at generating impactful narratives in top-tier, mainstream, trade, and regional media outlets. You will also manage reactive media interactions. Your role will involve collaboration with various functional partners and communications teams across EMEA and globally, ensuring a unified narrative that aligns with our business goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead proactive and reactive media engagement strategies for the Markets, Securities Services, and Research sectors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business leaders to create communications plans that align with corporate objectives.
  • Oversee daily interactions with financial journalists, providing them with insights and commentary from our bank's spokespeople.
  • Facilitate controlled access for journalists to our extensive network of Research analysts and their reports.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with key media personnel.
  • Identify opportunities for thought leadership and craft pitches for commentary in financial and international media.
  • Curate essential messaging for various business units to support our spokespeople.
  • Coordinate logistics for media interviews and background discussions, providing support to our spokespeople throughout these engagements.
  • Assist in the creation of analysis and measurement reports for the regional Marketing & Communications team, including maintaining media lists.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Proven experience in agency or in-house media relations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders confidently.
  • A keen understanding of news trends within the financial services, trading, and market infrastructure sectors.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, a profound respect for journalism, and a strong desire to learn about market dynamics and technology.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, capable of managing multiple high-priority initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in media-related decisions.
  • Enthusiastic and proactive approach to all aspects of work.
  • Capacity to work independently while effectively taking direction from multiple managers.
  • Commitment to upholding the firm's high standards concerning risk, compliance, and ethical conduct.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in media relations within banking or financial services.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism.
