Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Housing Coordinator to join our team at Brackenberry Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with a Local Authority in Enfield to assist with the appointment of a Housing Coordinator on a 3-month contract, with a high likelihood of extension.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively collaborate with a range of prevention tools, including Homefinders Scheme, Discretionary Hardship Payments, and court representation, to prevent homelessness and facilitate suitable affordable accommodation.
  • Accurately and robustly process housing and homelessness approaches within agreed timescales, adhering to relevant policies, procedures, legislation, case law, and guidance.
  • Conduct home visits where necessary to confirm homelessness, inspect housing standards/conditions, or verify a household's circumstances.
  • Liaise with the Market Management Team to secure accommodation where a housing duty is owed, recommend access to the council's rent deposit scheme (Homefinders), and ensure the prompt cancellation of temporary accommodation when no longer required.
  • Competently interpret and explain complex legal matters to tenants, landlords, and other interested parties, demonstrating a detailed understanding of security of tenure, including tenancy agreements, defending possession proceedings, harassment, illegal eviction, disrepair issues, and tenancy sustainment.

Requirements:

  • Ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English, essential for this role.
  • Experience of effectively preventing homelessness.
  • Experience of carrying out robust enquiries and competently deciding homelessness applications in accordance with Part VII Housing Act 1996 as amended.

  • Availability to work immediately or at short notice is essential.
  • Right to work in the U.K is required.
