About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chef to join our team at Blagdon Retirement Village, a leading provider of retirement living services. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional dining experiences for our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Menu Planning and Development: Design and create diverse and nutritious menus that cater to the dietary needs and preferences of our residents, ensuring a high level of quality and presentation.
  • Culinary Operations: Execute culinary dishes with precision and creativity, ensuring that all meals are prepared to the highest standards.
  • Dietary Accommodation: Accommodate special dietary requirements and restrictions, including low-sodium, gluten-free, and other individual needs, ensuring that all residents receive a tailored dining experience.
  • Kitchen Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, including inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the dining services team to ensure a seamless and enjoyable dining experience for residents, and maintain effective communication with colleagues and management.
  • Health and Safety: Maintain compliance with all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and sanitation practices, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for residents and staff.
  • Special Events: Plan and execute special dining events and activities for residents, enhancing their overall experience and satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Proven experience as a Chef in a similar setting (retirement community, assisted living, or similar environment preferred).
  • Culinary Qualifications: Culinary degree or relevant certification.
  • Nutrition and Dietary Knowledge: Strong knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements for seniors.
  • Organizational and Communication Skills: Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Health and Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices.
  • Creativity and Passion: Creativity and passion for delivering high-quality, creative, and appealing meals.
