Position Overview

We are pleased to present a remarkable opportunity to become a part of the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, located in Exeter, as the Senior Physiotherapy Clinical Coordinator for Cystic Fibrosis (both Adult and Paediatric).

The individual in this role will be tasked with delivering leadership and clinical proficiency to patients diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis across various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and community environments throughout the region.

The successful candidate will conduct highly specialized assessments and interventions for a diverse and complex patient caseload, while also leading multidisciplinary initiatives in collaboration with medical and specialized nursing teams. This position entails addressing the respiratory requirements of patients experiencing deterioration, including those in High Dependency Units as necessary. Physiotherapy services will be provided in homes, educational institutions, clinics, and hospital settings.

Key Responsibilities

The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, which include:

  • Delivering expert assessment and intervention for a complex range of cases.
  • Leading multidisciplinary activities in conjunction with medical and nursing professionals.
  • Supporting the respiratory needs of patients in critical condition, including those requiring intensive care.
  • Ensuring effective communication and understanding of care pathways across acute and community services.
  • Providing timely advice and reviews for acutely unwell patients.
  • Assisting in end-of-life care for patients with Cystic Fibrosis.
  • Collaborating with fellow Clinical Lead Physiotherapists to address workload and staffing challenges.
  • Facilitating the induction and training of new staff in the management of Cystic Fibrosis patients.
  • Offering mentorship to less experienced colleagues and students.
  • Flexibly providing weekend services and late clinic cover as required.

Working Hours

The position requires a commitment to providing comprehensive care, including 7-day coverage for patients with Cystic Fibrosis, with flexibility for late clinics as needed.
