About the Position

A position has opened for a Healthcare Security Officer within the Medirest Family, a part of Compass Group UK & Ireland. We are in search of dedicated individuals to enhance our proficient Healthcare Security team, ensuring a secure environment for patients, visitors, and healthcare personnel.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate for the Healthcare Security Officer role will possess:

  • A strong commitment to the safety of patients, visitors, and healthcare staff
  • Confidence in navigating a hospital environment, including interactions with distressed patients
  • Effective communication skills, particularly with individuals experiencing mental health challenges
  • Ability to de-escalate tense situations verbally
  • Empathetic decision-making with a patient-focused approach
  • Willingness to undergo training in patient restraint and managing aggression
  • Capability to follow routine procedures and protocols, including key management and patrolling
  • Knowledge of public safety and security protocols, including counter-terrorism measures
  • Familiarity with The Mental Health Act and relevant security guidelines
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in computer use
Shift Pattern

Your shift pattern will include:

  • Monday: Full-time (Days)
  • Tuesday: Full-time (Days)
  • Wednesday: Off
  • Thursday: Off
  • Friday: Off
  • Saturday: Off
  • Sunday: Off
Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Utilize training to assist clinical teams in de-escalating incidents of violence and aggression
  • Support clinical teams in restraining patients when necessary, in a professional manner
  • Assist law enforcement with individuals under arrest at the hospital
  • Respond to various incidents within the hospital and its grounds
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all individuals encountered
  • Conduct internal and external patrols
  • Complete incident reports and maintain the Daily Occurrence Book
  • Participate in post-incident reviews and implement learnings
  • Manage ID badges and Access Control cards
  • Monitor CCTV systems (if qualified or willing to obtain a funded SIA CCTV licence)
  • Respond to alarms and manage car park security
  • Assist in preventing violence, crime, or disorder
  • Contribute to a high-performing team that fosters a safe and supportive environment for all hospital users and staff
