Position Overview

In this position, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, and Social Work, to deliver comprehensive care and treatment for up to 10 service users in individual living spaces.

Your primary responsibilities as a Lead Consultant will encompass managing complex cases, developing tailored care plans, and providing guidance on evidence-based treatment methodologies.

As a vital member of the Medical Directorate, you will offer expertise on psychiatric and medical matters within the unit, oversee the implementation of the Mental Health Act, and ensure adherence to Clinical Policies and Standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate effectively with care coordinators, commissioners, families, and other agencies.
  • Jointly develop and assess Directorate policies and procedures in compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Implement the Mental Health Act and liaise with relevant authorities as necessary.
  • Engage in multi-disciplinary and multi-agency partnerships.
  • Perform administrative duties related to patient care, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council and adhere to ethical standards.
  • Retain Section 12(2) and Approved Clinician status.

The hospital operates a two-tier on-call system, with the first tier managed by associate specialists and agency personnel. The post holder will participate in the second tier of on-call duties as the Responsible Clinician, providing coverage for colleagues during absences.

Qualifications:

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Full GMC registration with a license to practice.
  • MRCPsych or equivalent recognized by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
  • Ability to independently manage clinical care for patients.
  • Hold Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status.
  • Experience in General Adult settings and working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Background in acute inpatient or community settings, with expertise in risk assessment and management.
