Role Responsibilities
In this capacity, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, and Social Work, to deliver comprehensive care and treatment for a select group of service users residing in individual apartments.
Your primary responsibilities will encompass:
- Managing complex clinical cases and developing tailored care plans to meet the specific needs of each service user.
- Providing guidance on evidence-based treatment methodologies and their effectiveness.
- Advising on psychiatric and medical matters within the unit as part of the Medical Directorate.
- Overseeing the implementation of the Mental Health Act, Clinical Policies, and Clinical Standards.

Key Duties Include:
- Engaging in collaborative efforts with care coordinators, commissioners, families, and other relevant agencies.
- Contributing to the development and review of Directorate policies and procedures in alignment with statutory requirements.
- Implementing the Mental Health Act and liaising with relevant authorities as necessary.
- Facilitating multi-disciplinary and multi-agency partnerships.
- Performing administrative tasks related to patient care, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
- Maintaining professional registration with the General Medical Council and adhering to established codes of conduct.
- Upholding Section 12(2) and Approved Clinician status.
The hospital operates a two-tier on-call system, with the first tier managed by associate specialists and agency staff. The post holder will participate in the second tier of hospital on-call duties as the designated Responsible Clinician.
Additionally, the post holder will be expected to provide coverage for colleagues during their absences, with reciprocal arrangements in place.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- MBBS or an equivalent medical qualification.
- Full registration with the General Medical Council, including a license to practice.
- MRCPsych or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
- Proven ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients.
- Section 12(2) approval to practice in England and Approved Clinician status.
- Experience in General Adult settings and a background in multidisciplinary teamwork.
- Experience in acute inpatient or community settings, with a focus on risk assessment and management.
