Lead Pharmacist

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated pharmacist to lead the development of our inpatient pharmacy services across the Trust. As a member of our senior management team, you will oversee the clinical pharmacy services for inpatients and support the management of our Community Mental Health Team pharmacists.
Key Responsibilities- Operational Leadership: Take operational responsibility for the safe, secure, effective provision, management, and strategic direction of all inpatient medicines management services across the Trust.
- Medicines Management: Ensure a high-quality, clinical pharmacy service is delivered to inpatients and their carers within Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT).
- Leadership and Expertise: Provide professional pharmaceutical leadership and expert advice on all matters relating to prescribing and medicine management services to the Chief Pharmacist, Deputy Chief Pharmacist, Medicines Management team, individual services, and clinicians.
- Service Development: Promote seamless and integrated care for patients with mental health conditions, supporting the transition of patients across inpatient and community services so they receive the required level of care to support them in taking their medication safely.
- Policy Implementation: Be responsible for policy implementation and staff development relating to medicines management across all the inpatient sites in Kent.
- Representation: Represent pharmacy at local governance meetings, including writing medicine management reports for the Drug & Therapeutic (D&T) group and the Clinical Effectiveness and Outcome Group (CEOG) meetings.
- Communication: Publish the bimonthly "Medication Matters" newsletter to all staff across the trust, sharing insights on medication-related alerts and errors, and updating staff on new policies and procedures.
- On-Call Rota: Lead the setup of the pharmacist on-call rota and participate in the clinical on-call pharmacist service as needed.
