Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for an Administrative Support Specialist to join a dynamic administration team within the CAMHS Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team.

The CAMHS Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team is a distinguished, multidisciplinary community unit dedicated to assisting individuals under 18 who are facing mental health emergencies.

Key Responsibilities

The individual in this role will be responsible for performing reception and administrative tasks on behalf of the clinical team, supported by a proficient and experienced administrative staff. This position offers a valuable learning and development experience for those aspiring to contribute to the NHS and enhance the experiences of children, young people, and their families dealing with mental health challenges.

Job Duties

This role will primarily involve, among other responsibilities:

  • Welcoming visitors and managing telephone inquiries for the team;
  • Inputting patient data into the Trust's electronic patient records;
  • Scanning documents and organizing both incoming and outgoing mail;
  • Formatting clinical correspondence.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications:

  • GCSEs including English and Mathematics/NVQ II or equivalent, or a willingness to pursue this qualification;
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills.

Previous Experience:

  • General understanding of office procedures with an interest in health service matters;
  • Proficiency in using computerized systems, particularly Word and Excel, to produce high-quality work.

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent communication abilities when interacting with service users, their families, and external agencies via telephone, letter, email, or face-to-face;
  • A minimum of two years' experience in a healthcare, mental health, or office environment;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to exercise discretion when necessary;
  • Understanding of mental health issues or a willingness to undergo training to support this;
  • Demonstrating respect and empathy towards service users.

Analytical Skills:

  • Ability to exercise initiative, tact, and judgment, making decisions when required;
  • Appreciation of confidentiality;
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team;
  • Capability to organize and prioritize workload while working under pressure and adhering to established guidelines.
