We're seeking a highly motivated and experienced Farm Trials Assistant to join our team at Pepperness Farm. As a key member of our Crop Optimisation team, you'll play a crucial role in implementing cross-departmental trials and delivering world-class applied research and development in the exciting field of vertical farming.
You'll work closely with our grower manager, agronomy team, NPD team, operations, and technical teams to ensure efficient delivery of trials in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Your exceptional enthusiasm and can-do attitude will be essential in helping us achieve our mission to be the best controlled environment growers in the world.
Responsibilities- Assist in trials delivery on the farm and provide support to other R&D activities.
- Help implement proof-of-concept, variety, agronomic, and post-harvest trials.
- Use scientific and technical kit to take readings that track plant and product performance throughout the product life cycle.
- Help with the general upkeep, calibration, and maintenance of scientific and technical equipment.
- Collect samples of various system inputs and outputs for internal and external analysis.
- Keep accurate records of work completed.
- Work under the daily supervision of the Farm Trials Coordinator, with direction from the Head of Crop Optimisation.
- Contribute to a good safety culture within the team and adhere to all health and safety protocols.
- Help maintain a food safety culture and awareness.
