Job DescriptionThe Assistant Project Manager will play a critical role in the delivery of major contracts, ensuring the successful execution of engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and handover activities. Reporting to the Service Manager, this individual will be responsible for planning and coordinating project activities, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, time, and cost parameters.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Project Manager in delivering project scope, ensuring timely and within-budget completion.
- Liaise with key teams, including Project/Service Manager and Utilities Delivery Leads, to ensure effective project planning and delivery.
- Develop and implement management systems to support project delivery and quality, including planning and document control processes.
- Participate in providing support to the wider team regarding compliance with approved procedures.
- Develop relationships with key statutory stakeholders for the project.
- Project manage the delivery of documents required to secure project delivery, including planning schedules and technical work streams.
- Maintain a full and auditable archive of project decisions to document project evolution and history.
- Support project management functions of technical work streams to ensure timely and within-budget completion.
- Coordinate and record meetings with key project stakeholders.
- Ensure wider NNB arrangements are implemented within the project scope and advise the management team of necessary actions.
- Facilitate internal communications within the project delivery team and wider project teams.
- Assist the Project Manager in delivering the List of Deliverables (LOD) and applying the principles of Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Support the Commercial and Programme Managers in preparing necessary budget justifications and internal business papers.
- Provide support to Technical Contract Leads in their dealings with suppliers.
- Degree or similar qualification in engineering, construction, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in project engineering/management.
- Excellent written and oral presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and interact with senior managers.
- People management skills, with the ability to build relationships, influence, and work collaboratively within complex, internal and external, multidisciplinary groups.
- Ability to display and communicate a logical thought process, with excellent analytical skills, including capabilities for budget analysis and forecasting.
- Ability to cope well under pressure and within tight timeframes.
- Autonomous working with a high level of attention to detail.
