This role is primarily remote, with the expectation of traveling to client locations across the Midlands and attending occasional meetings at our headquarters.

Role Overview:

As a Client Relationship Strategist, you will have the unique opportunity to effectively cultivate, oversee, and enhance a portfolio of lending clients. You will represent The Co-operative Bank by consistently delivering exceptional customer service while fostering and nurturing relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish strong connections within the local business community to promote the values, ethics, services, and products of The Co-operative Bank, thereby expanding your customer portfolio.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with an assigned portfolio of clients to ensure high satisfaction levels and maximize business outcomes, regularly assessing progress against established standards and targets.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of your clients' portfolios and product offerings to identify their current and future business needs, enabling the creation of tailored services and solutions that enhance customer satisfaction and drive business growth.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate, statutory, and regulatory standards for all assigned clients, staying informed about changes in the competitive landscape and customer offerings that may impact the business.
  • Lead by example in alignment with the Bank's cultural transformation and new operational frameworks regarding Risk Management and ethical policies.
  • Demonstrate high-level credit skills, managing the credit application process from initial inquiry through to deal closure.
  • Continuously seek to enhance operational policies and procedures, ensuring best practices are implemented consistently.
  • Act as an Ambassador for the Bank and SME Banking at various internal and external events, serving as a role model for your team.

  • Foundational credit skills within a commercial lending context.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Proficient negotiation and decision-making abilities.
  • Competence in risk management.
  • Confidence in marketing and selling products.
  • Willingness to travel to client locations as necessary.
