Job Title: Senior Director of Global Wordings

Job Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead our Global Wordings function, driving strategic initiatives and ensuring consistency of advice and efficient service across all three Business Units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Global Wordings Function: Develop and maintain a robust working relationship with other Legal functions, providing wordings support to the business and ensuring consistency of advice and efficient service.
  • Drive Strategic Initiatives: Take the lead role on significant wordings-related initiatives, working effectively with other business functions, including GCUO, Underwriting, and AXA Group.
  • Enhance Wordings Service Offering: Ensure the Wordings team embraces AI technology to improve efficiency and quality of service, and coordinate central resources and management of demand, developing and adhering to Wordings' SLAs.
  • Establish Effective Working Relationships: Establish formal and effective working relationships between Wordings, Legal, Claims, and the Litigation team through the coordination of a Wordings forum and provision of other collaboration processes.
  • Manage the Process of New Product Development: Manage the process of new product development and coordinate Wordings training across all jurisdictions.
  • Represent AXA XL: Ensure AXA XL is represented by relevant Wordings experts on related market bodies and ensure awareness of applicable standards in terms of Legal input to products, including compliance with consumer requirements.
  • Communicate Market/Regulatory Changes: Communicate market/regulatory changes, including ensuring adoption of requirements.
  • Coach and Develop Direct Reports: Responsible for coaching, developing, and motivating direct reports, including recruitment and selection, staff appraisals, and performance management.

Requirements:

  • Strategic Leadership: Demonstrate strategic leadership and role model by setting a high bar for performance, engagement, and commitment.
  • Experience and Expertise: Experience of managing a team of Wordings experts, with a track record of successfully collaborating with relevant peers and stakeholder groups across a company, and recognised as a Wordings expert across multiple lines of business and jurisdictions.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Displays an adaptable and flexible working style, remaining calm under pressure, adjusting comfortably to changing conditions/priorities.
  • Planning and Organisation: Proven planning and organisation skills, creating own work schedules, prioritising workload, preparing in advance, and setting realistic timescales for self and others.
  • Communication and Presentation: Demonstrates excellent communication skills, a confident and articulate presenter to internal and external audiences.
  • Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Display initiative and confidently create disciplined solutions to problems, and possess excellent analytical skills.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Able to work under own initiative and manage priorities in order to meet tight deadlines, and operate as an effective team member by supporting colleagues and contributing in the delivery and achievement of overall team and business objectives.
  • Market Awareness: Maintain awareness of ongoing and future market-wide initiatives that could have an impact and work as part of Global Legal team to resolve/manage/coordinate any impact or response that may be required.
  • Technology and Innovation: Confident in using technology solutions (including AI) to enhance Wordings service offering.
  • Business Acumen: An in-depth understanding of the insurance market and market practices globally, preferably with relevant Wordings and legal experience.
  • Stakeholder Management: The ability to deal with all levels of the company and stakeholders both internally and externally.
