Job Title: Head of Global Wordings

AXA XL is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Global Wordings function. As Head of Global Wordings, you will be responsible for overseeing the global wordings teams and wordings reviews across all three Business Units.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for Wordings at AXA XL, aligning with the company's overall objectives.
  • Drive the Global Wordings function, promoting consistency in wordings across similar products in different jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate with the Global Head of Litigation, Wordings and Employment Law to set the company's vision for Wordings and turn it into reality.
  • Develop and maintain a robust working relationship with other Legal functions, ensuring consistency of advice and efficiency of service.
  • Support the Global Head of Litigation, Wordings and Employment Law in transformational projects, including the development of new technology and systems.
  • Lead significant wordings-related initiatives and projects, working effectively with other business functions.
  • Ensure the Wordings team embraces AI technology to improve efficiency and quality of service.
  • Coordinate central resources and management of demand, developing and adhering to Wordings' SLAs.
  • Enhance the existing QA model for the wordings function, identifying and communicating inconsistencies across AXA XL branches.
  • Establish formal and effective working relationships between Wordings, Legal, Claims, and the Litigation team.
  • Work closely with Underwriting and GCUO in the development and implementation of procedures and best practices.
  • Manage the process of new product development and coordinate Wordings training across all jurisdictions.
  • Ensure AXA XL is represented by relevant Wordings experts on related market bodies.
  • Ensure awareness of applicable standards in terms of Legal input to products, including compliance with consumer requirements.
  • Communicate market/regulatory changes, ensuring adoption of requirements.
  • Responsible for coaching, developing, and motivating direct reports.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrate strategic leadership and role model by setting a high bar for performance, engagement, and commitment.
  • Track record of successfully collaborating with relevant peers and stakeholder groups across a complex international insurance business.
  • Confident in using technology solutions, including AI, to enhance Wordings service offering.
  • Change management – a proactive approach to Bin, Bank, and Build towards an efficient and future-focused Wordings offering.
  • Project management – working across the business, partnering with key stakeholders to make it better.
  • Experience of managing a team of Wordings experts, taking initiative, and leading independently.
  • Recognised as a Wordings expert across multiple lines of business and jurisdictions, with credibility as a subject matter expert.
  • Displays an adaptable and flexible working style, remaining calm under pressure, and adjusting comfortably to changing conditions/priorities.
  • Proven planning and organisation skills, creating own work schedules, prioritising workload, and preparing in advance.
  • Excellent communication skills, a confident and articulate presenter to internal/external audiences.
  • Display initiative and confidently create disciplined solutions to problems.
  • Able to work under own initiative and manage priorities in order to meet tight deadlines.
  • Maintain awareness of ongoing and future market-wide initiatives that could have an impact and work as part of Global Legal team to resolve/manage/coordinate any impact or response that may be required.
  • Able to operate as an effective team member by supporting colleagues and contributing in the delivery and achievement of overall team and business objectives.
  • Has previous experience and the ability to conduct regular liaison with relevant areas and groups within the business as appropriate for the role.
  • Identify key issues and roadblocks to efficient working practices; design and implement procedural reform.
  • An in-depth understanding of the insurance market and market practices globally, preferably with relevant Wordings and legal experience.
  • The ability to deal with all levels of the company and stakeholders both internally and externally.
