As an ASD Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in fostering an inclusive and supportive educational atmosphere where every student can excel. Your patience, empathy, and dedication will be essential in providing the necessary support to students with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Make a Meaningful Difference: Offer essential assistance to students with ASD, enabling them to navigate challenges and achieve success in their learning journey.
  • Collaborate Effectively: Partner with educators and families to develop a customized, supportive learning environment tailored to each student's unique needs.
  • Facilitate Student Development: Aid in the execution of Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) and behavioral strategies, while monitoring and communicating progress with relevant parties.
  • Engage and Motivate: Support classroom activities and promote both the academic and social growth of students with ASD.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Essential: Previous experience working with individuals with ASD or special educational needs.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal abilities to build connections with students, educators, and families.
  • Independence & Teamwork: Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Empathy: A compassionate and understanding approach when assisting students facing distinct challenges.
Education & Qualifications:
  • Minimum: GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Desirable: Additional qualifications in special education or related fields, such as Autism Awareness or First Aid Certification.
Preferred Experience & Knowledge:
  • Experience: Prior experience in a similar role, preferably within an educational context.
  • Understanding of ASD: Knowledge of effective strategies for supporting students with ASD and familiarity with educational practices and protocols.
Working Conditions:
  • Location: Primarily within a school environment.
  • Hours: Full-time, with occasional flexibility required.

All quoted pay rates will include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This position is temporary, with the possibility of a permanent role in the future.
