Regional Fleet Operations Engineer

Role Overview

In this role, you will assist the Regional Fleet Manager by providing daily guidance to the regional fleet workshops, ensuring exceptional client satisfaction and stakeholder involvement while achieving all commercial, health and safety, and operational objectives.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing customer expectations, particularly regarding vehicle and mobile plant uptime and availability, while delivering consistently high service levels.
  • Monitoring and enhancing fleet performance in the region through the fleet management system, ensuring compliance, maintaining data integrity, and maximizing asset availability.
  • Driving optimal vehicle availability across the region by continuously assessing feedback and implementing necessary improvements.
  • Ensuring all asset compliance with current legislation and health and safety standards, maintaining maintenance protocols in accordance with company procedures, and enhancing MOT pass rates and workshop performance metrics.
  • Overseeing third-party service providers through Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Biffa compliance protocols, including SLA development, rate negotiations, and invoice verification.
  • Evaluating financial and operational performance, managing assets and personnel to ensure profitability while maintaining high customer service standards.
  • Monitoring the fleet management system for accuracy in workshop inputs, including job cards, purchase orders, and compliance data, while addressing any overdue events.
  • Actively managing business performance metrics and taking appropriate actions to ensure optimal asset returns.
  • Conducting audits of health and safety practices within the region, ensuring compliance with company standards and monitoring the completion of necessary documentation.
  • Fostering teamwork and inspiring individuals to collaborate towards achieving shared objectives, while managing performance to deliver outstanding business results.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • A relevant technical qualification.
  • A valid driving license.
  • Management experience in a B2B service delivery environment.
  • Prior experience in a similar role within the fleet sector.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance in accordance with DVSA roadworthiness guidelines.
  • Operational familiarity with workshop practices and health and safety legislation.
  • An understanding of Operators License requirements.
  • Knowledge of workshop procedures and DVSA testing protocols.
  • Awareness of technical and legislative updates.
  • A solid understanding of MOT inspection standards.
  • Experience managing in a labor-intensive, multi-shift setting.
