Position Overview

Due to ongoing expansion, Buckles is pleased to announce an opportunity for a skilled Associate Solicitor to join our dynamic Construction & Engineering division. We offer flexibility regarding office location based on the candidate's qualifications, and this role is a full-time, permanent position.

Role Responsibilities:

We are seeking a proactive Associate Solicitor specializing in Construction & Engineering, capable of cultivating and enhancing an existing client base while contributing to the team's growth. A pre-existing client following would be advantageous.

Your role will involve leading and managing a diverse range of contentious and non-contentious matters, collaborating with team members, and providing guidance to junior colleagues. The ideal candidate will possess strong commercial acumen, exceptional business development capabilities, and the ability to establish and maintain effective client relationships.

Key Duties:

  • Collaborate within the Construction & Engineering team on a variety of contentious and non-contentious cases, both in leadership and supportive roles, as well as managing your own caseload.
  • Assist the broader Real Estate team with development-related matters.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities proactively.
  • Enhance the firm's visibility in the marketplace and conduct oneself in a manner that upholds the firm's reputation.
  • Achieve individual targets with minimal oversight.
  • Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and foster strong relationships with clients.
  • Adhere to established quality procedures and management systems.
  • Deliver work in a commercially viable manner.
  • Continuously develop both technical and non-technical skills to meet client and firm needs, demonstrating ongoing improvement in all work areas.
  • Engage in the development and delivery of seminar and workshop content.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Relevant professional qualifications or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong advisory and drafting capabilities, familiar with standard form contracts such as JCT, NEC, FIDIC, etc.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all stakeholders involved in construction and engineering projects.
  • Experience in various dispute resolution methods, including litigation, arbitration, adjudication, expert determination, and mediation.
  • A collaborative team player with excellent communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize workload effectively to meet deadlines.
  • A rational, measured, and commercially focused approach to problem-solving.
  • Confidently and diplomatically engage with clients and other stakeholders.
  • Provide effective supervision and mentorship to junior team members.
