Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled MEP Project Manager to join our team at Skanska Costain STRABAG Joint Venture. As a key member of our project delivery team, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health (MEP) systems across our assets.

Main Responsibilities
  • Site Management: Manage a site team, including subcontractors, suppliers, and third-party contractors, ensuring implementation of health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Design and Construction: Develop the design, construction methodology, program, and cost for MEP systems, preparing for delivery, including resources, procurement, consents, and pre-start documentation.
  • Team Supervision: Manage, supervise, train, and mentor the site team to optimize their work contribution, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality results.
  • Contract Management: Review contractual agreements, develop detailed site-specific programs, and forecast budgets, assessing actual program and productivity achieved, and reporting changes to the Project Manager and QS department.
  • Subcontractor Management: Be fully conversant with subcontractor contract conditions, assist in developing job-specific subcontract conditions, and manage subcontractor accounts with the QS team.
  • Communication: Communicate non-conformances and instructions received from the client, designer, RE's staff, and other stakeholders to the Project Manager, QA, and QS teams.
  • Site Diary: Maintain a full and accurate daily site diary, including changes, variations, subcontractor attendance, and work-related discussions with clients, designers, and project teams.
  • Inspection and Testing: Ensure inspection and test plans, risk assessments, and method statements for controlling works are implemented and adhered to.
  • Health and Safety: Be familiar with and demonstrate commitment to the requirements of the Health and Safety and Environmental Policies, implementing relevant requirements of the Safety Management System within their area of responsibility.
  • Team Liaison: Internal liaison with the Project Manager, Design and Engineering Team, QA team, and Cost Control, as well as external liaison with HS2, subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders, coordinating works with Temporary site services and Rail Systems interface personnel.
  • MEP Opportunities: Identify, review, manage, and optimize MEP opportunities and efficiencies at each asset.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience: Experience in a similar level role, responsible for the delivery of Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health systems, including management, procurement, design, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover.
  • Qualifications: A professional qualification or degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Fire/Telecommunications Engineering or a related subject.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of construction techniques, sequencing, and best practice, as well as NEC construction contracts.
  • Skills: Capable of working independently and proactively to progress works, while also skilled at working collaboratively with other integrated team members and external stakeholders for the overall benefit of the project.
  • Computer Competence: Computer competence in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Document Control Systems, and AutoCAD.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adjust communication style to suit the receiver.
  • Certifications: Relevant CSCS Card and SMSTS/SSSTS certifications.
