Project Assistance Specialist

UKCEH is seeking a skilled Project/Programme Support Officer to become a vital part of our dedicated team, playing a key role in scientific research and providing essential data and insights to tackle pressing environmental issues.

In this role, you will join a dynamic and established Project team within our Hydro Climate Risk division. Reporting directly to the Programme Manager, your responsibilities will encompass providing crucial support and ensuring the team has the necessary resources and information to successfully execute diverse research initiatives.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with the Project Office to prepare essential materials such as meeting agendas, external communications, and outreach content
- Assisting in the planning, design, and execution of programme or project activities
- Monitoring and reporting on project progress
- Coordinating meetings and workshops, including venue selection and catering arrangements
- Documenting project progress in meetings, distributing minutes, and tracking action items
- Engaging with stakeholders to communicate updates and gather feedback
- Supporting risk management efforts and proposing mitigation strategies
- Establishing a document library and ensuring compliance with project standards
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- Experience in fast-paced environments, managing administrative tasks such as minute-taking and diary management
- A foundational understanding of project management methodologies or a desire to pursue a career in this field
- An interest in academic or scientific research settings
- A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a commitment to supporting colleagues
- The ability to work independently while effectively managing time for both long-term and short-term tasks
- Flexibility to prioritize and manage a diverse workload
- Confidence in liaising with internal and external stakeholders
- Proficiency in MS O365, SharePoint, Power BI, and videoconferencing tools
Desirable qualifications include:
- Experience in supporting multiple projects or complex programmes
- A proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
- Capability to establish Management Information Systems (MIS) for projects
- Experience in planning and executing stakeholder events
