Ecological Specialist

Our client, a prominent independent Oil & Gas operator, is currently looking for an Environmental Consultant to join their QSSHE team.
This role is a full-time contract position, providing essential environmental support to both onshore and offshore operations.
As the Environmental Consultant, your primary responsibility will be to deliver proactive and competent environmental guidance across various production assets.
The ideal candidate will ensure that risks, controls, and mitigations are effectively identified and implemented throughout the operational lifecycle, from active production to decommissioning, including various projects and drilling activities.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Acting as the Environmental Consultant for multiple operational platforms and subsea tiebacks
- Managing all relevant OPPC, ETS, and Chemical Permits for offshore activities
- Providing technical input into Terminal Environmental Operations
- Developing an Environmental Plan that outlines key initiatives and milestones to support ISO14001 compliance
- Contributing to the maintenance of ISO14001:2015 standards
- Conducting scheduled Audits & Inspections
- Managing regulatory relationships with OPRED/BEIS
- Ensuring timely submission of all internal and external reports, including EEMS, OSPAR, OPPC, and SECR
- Advising the team on environmental policy and legislative compliance
- Coordinating the monitoring and review of environmental legislative changes
- Conducting site visits and audits
- Maintaining OPEP's
- Participating as a member of the IMT
- Providing oversight of the environmental component of the HSE budget
Key Experience/Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related field
- Significant experience in the environmental sector of the offshore upstream Oil & Gas industry at an advisory level
- Demonstrated experience in offshore production, subsea operations, drilling, and well intervention
- Comprehensive knowledge of the UK regulatory environmental framework
- Understanding of emissions management and trading schemes relevant to offshore operations
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- ISO14001 auditor certification
- Familiarity with SCR2015
- Experience with PORTAL, EEMS, ETSWAP (or UK equivalents)
- Knowledge of SECR regulations
- BOSIET/FOET certification
Key Experience/Qualifications Preferred:
- 8 years of experience in the offshore oil and gas industry or similar high-hazard industries
- Full membership in IEMA or a similar organization
- Experience in NORM Management / RPS
