Ecologist Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Ecologist to join our team at Norfolk Wildlife Services. As an Ecologist, you will play a key role in providing high-quality ecological expertise to ensure our clients' projects move forward while protecting and benefiting nature and wildlife.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct protected species surveys and assessments, including bats, great crested newts, water voles, reptiles, and Schedule 1 birds.
  • Carry out site and habitat surveys and assessments.
  • Provide conservation management advice on species and habitats.
  • Act as an Ecological Clerk of Works on selected projects.
About You:

We are looking for someone with a degree in ecology or a related field and a minimum of 2 years' experience working in ecological consultancy or a similar sector. You will enjoy working as part of a small, committed team and relish the challenge of working with a range of clients on different projects.

You will have experience of ecological field survey work, an understanding of relevant UK environmental legislation, and membership of (or working towards) the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or an equivalent professional body. You will also have experience in report writing, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, management plans, and Ecological Impact Assessments, as well as the development of mitigation measures.
