Job Title: Deputy Ward Manager

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Deputy Ward Manager to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our ward team, you will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and management to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strong clinical leadership skills to support and empower others in pursuit of a shared vision.
  • Assist and support the Sister/Charge Nurse in establishing an efficient working environment.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day management of the clinical area, delegating duties and care appropriately.
  • Responsible for the assessment and ordering of bank and agency staff.
  • Involved in the development, assessment, and implementation of guidelines, protocols, and pathways.
  • Deputise for the Sister/Charge Nurse in their absence.
  • Attend and participate in monthly departmental meetings and ward rounds.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience of managing a ward, including management of rotas, competencies, resources, and staff.
  • Experience of teaching, assessing, and supervising others in a clinical setting.
  • Ability to organise and plan own time and that of junior staff and learners.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues.
  • Good communication skills and ability to deal with sensitive information.
