Lead Project Coordinator (Consultancy) - Construction
At Mace, our mission is to push the limits of ambition. We are dedicated to creating environments that are responsible, delivering transformative impacts to our people, communities, and societies worldwide. To discover more about our mission, culture, and priorities, please visit our website.
Within our Consultancy division, we leverage our unique blend of cutting-edge practical expertise and project delivery consultancy to unlock the potential in every initiative.
The initiative:
Mace has been selected for a complex, long-term, multi-billion pound program aimed at redeveloping a science campus in the London / South East region.
We serve as the Delivery Partner, undertaking a role similar to that of CLM during the London 2012 Olympics, overseeing the design and construction of enabling, infrastructure, and building projects in a dynamic environment on a site of national significance while coordinating logistics and operations with technical and construction partners.
Our client aims to revolutionize their campus and operational methods while preserving a world-class science and research capability, nurturing and developing specialized expertise in a collaborative and safety-conscious manner.
Mace is seeking a Lead Project Coordinator to oversee the delivery of a new scientific capability valued at up to £900m. Currently in the conceptual design phase, the Lead Project Coordinator will guide the project through design development, procurement, and into construction delivery, ensuring an affordable, licensable, and executable solution. They will manage and integrate a team across all functions, including the technical partner and main contractors.
Working from the site in Weybridge, Surrey, and in London, with some flexibility for remote work as appropriate, candidates should possess experience in large-scale project delivery, ideally within a highly regulated environment and/or a delivery partner model, managing through design and construction. Experience in delivering scientific and high containment solutions is highly desirable.
Our values shape our consulting approach and define the individuals we seek to join us on our journey:
Safety First - Ensuring well-being:
· You will be a champion of Mace's value of Safety First, accountable for leading and maintaining exceptional safety, quality, cost, program, sustainability, and project compliance standards.
· You will possess advanced technical knowledge of local Health and Safety regulations relevant to the project portfolio.
· You will promote a diverse and inclusive working environment, understanding the importance of the well-being of the individuals you manage.
Client Focus – Delivering on commitments:
· You will manage the delivery of key assignments and defined business areas, providing strategic direction and monitoring delivery aligned with overall vision and objectives.
· You will be the relationship owner and primary contact for the Mace project leadership team, responsible for ensuring efficient governance to achieve our strategic priorities.
· You will manage key client relationships, including generating live prospects and leads.
Integrity – Upholding ethical standards:
· You will have budgetary oversight, ensuring operations are fiscally and ethically viable, meeting organizational and legislative compliance obligations.
· You will influence the long-term development of strategy for a function or Business Unit (BU), creating a sustainable business future.
· You will commit to making a positive impact for our people, our clients, and our planet, taking ownership for holding others accountable who do not uphold the Mace values.
Creating opportunities for team excellence:
· You will mentor, coach, and develop your project team, fostering an environment for knowledge sharing and experience exchange.
· You will actively network, innovate, and seek understanding of best practices, utilizing the full depth of knowledge from Mace Group, the Centres of Excellence, Mace Way Control Centre, and Knowledge Hub.
· You will leverage your network to identify talent, lead recruitment efforts, and manage the development, retention, and mobility of personnel, supporting our team members to achieve their highest potential.
Required qualifications:
· Proven experience and a track record in procuring and delivering large or complex projects and teams.
· Advanced technical understanding of project management practices, construction methodologies, sequencing, and logic.
· Budgetary oversight (profit plan and fee structure).
· Advanced risk and opportunity management expertise.
· Highly effective communication and presentation skills.
· Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities across estimating, scheduling, procurement, contract administration, financial controls, and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
· Contract literate to a proficient standard.
· Performance management to ensure a high-performance culture is maintained.
Additional qualifications:
· Experience in the successful delivery phase of projects and programs in a highly regulated sector, preferably scientific facilities with high containment laboratories.
· Deep expertise in property or infrastructure project management.
· Strong commercial and financial acumen.
· Leadership and management experience of large, diverse teams.
· Experience managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
· Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will influence the outlook of the projects you are involved in.
Mace is an inclusive employer and welcomes interest from a diverse range of candidates. Even if you feel you do not meet all of the criteria, please consider applying as you may still be the best candidate for this role or another opportunity within our organization.
