Role OverviewWe are thrilled to announce an opportunity for a Lead Audience Insight Specialist to become a vital part of our Insights team. This role is pivotal in managing daily research activities across the Network Audience, Content Insight, and Platform Insight teams, with a structured rotation among these three areas. The successful candidate will serve as the primary contact for routine insight inquiries, playing a crucial role in promoting a data-driven methodology that ensures audience insights are integral to decision-making processes throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Engage in diverse projects across UKTV, focusing on identifying optimal scheduling and curation strategies, determining key target demographics, and conducting comprehensive marketing assessments.
- Participate in trend analysis, respond to digital data and product inquiries, and collaborate closely with commissioning and acquisitions teams to pinpoint content that resonates with our viewers.
- Proven experience in quantitative research, encompassing survey design and analysis, acquired within research, advertising, media agencies, or client-side environments.
- Familiarity with qualitative research methodologies and their application alongside other research techniques.
- Proficient in data interrogation and analysis, including experience with datasets such as BARB, TechEdge, Piano, and TGI.
- Experience in working with digital and VoD metrics and tools.
- Ability to analyze data and research outcomes, producing clear, concise reports with actionable insights.
- Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint for data manipulation and presentation.
- Strong presentation skills, capable of conveying research findings to non-expert audiences.
- Solid understanding of social metrics and the impact of social engagement on brand presence.
- Collaborative mindset, comfortable working with data teams and multi-platform datasets.
- Proven ability to implement research recommendations effectively.
- Experience in storytelling through data, presenting findings compellingly to non-research stakeholders.
- Skilled in integrating metrics from various sources.
- Exceptional IT, written, and numerical skills, with advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong grasp of advancements in BARB measurement for non-linear viewing.
- Thorough understanding of market and competitor dynamics.

- Act as the primary contact for daily operational activities and requests within the assigned team, supported by Insight Managers.
- Understand UKTV's strategic objectives and how consumer insights shape them, proactively addressing the needs of the broader business.
- Serve as the initial point of contact for daily data inquiries related to UKTV's challenges.
- Translate business issues into actionable research requirements.
- Provide insightful recommendations to guide team decisions.
- Stay informed on consumer research trends and customize insights for UKTV.
- Ensure that broader consumer trends are reflected in regular and ad hoc reporting.
- Oversee the execution of in-house qualitative research to support decision-making.
- Develop and manage the timeline for in-house research activities.
- Ensure research is conducted with the highest standards of expertise and impartiality, adhering to MRS guidelines.
- Deliver insightful debriefs with clear takeaways and recommendations.
- Generate regular reports to update the business on key performance indicators and market context.
- Produce accurate, timely evaluations with actionable insights.
- Utilize BARB, Piano, and other data sources for ad hoc investigations into UKTV's performance.
- Evaluate marketing initiatives and analyze significant UKTV/channel/player/web projects.
- Employ creative approaches to tackle complex queries and explore various methodologies for solutions.
- Adapt swiftly to changing priorities and respond to last-minute data requests.
- Manage relationships with external vendors to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaborate with management to translate research needs into objectives and briefs.
- Oversee the research process from inception to completion.
- Analyze UKTV's performance against established targets.
- Identify issues and opportunities arising from this analysis.
- Participate actively in brand strategy sessions.
- Contribute to the brand tracker and interpret results to inform brand and network strategies.
- Assist decision-makers in understanding the combined performance across all services.
- Provide research that supports the achievement of digital-first objectives.
- This role involves rotating through one of three functions at a time, with collaboration among teams to ensure knowledge sharing and career development.
- Collaboration with UKTV's data analyst and science teams is integral to the role.
- Insight Managers will guide your work management and prioritization, while the team head will oversee your overall development.
- Key stakeholders include Programming, Marketing, Commissioning, Acquisitions, Commercial, and Product teams.
The Platform Insight team focuses on delivering comprehensive platform and commercial insights, shaping tactical and strategic decisions across the organization. The Content Insight team serves as a key advisor on maximizing content value, utilizing deep knowledge of trends and competitor activities to inform editorial strategies. The Network Audience Insight team provides essential insights into UKTV's current and potential audiences across various platforms, advocating for a data-driven approach to audience strategy.
