London, Greater London, United Kingdom Solace Women's Aid's Full time

Location: Hybrid, supporting various boroughs.

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract, Full Time.

Salary: Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience.

Hours: 19 hours per week (2.5 days), with flexibility in work patterns.

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of women and children affected by gender-based violence? Join our team at Solace Women's Aid as an Empowered Community Outreach Specialist.

At Solace Women's Aid, we are dedicated to eradicating the harm caused by gender-based violence. Our mission is to prevent violence and abuse while providing tailored services to meet the unique needs of survivors, particularly women and children. We take a holistic and empowering approach, working collaboratively with survivors to help them achieve independent lives free from abuse.

About the Service:

The Early Intervention and Prevention Service is designed to support children and young people who have faced any form of violence against women and girls (VAWG). Our team encompasses three key projects: 1) The POW project, which delivers group prevention initiatives in schools and communities; 2) General Advocacy, providing targeted one-on-one support to young people at standard-to-medium risk; and 3) The CoRageUs Project, which offers comprehensive support to young women and girls aged 14-24 from black and minoritized backgrounds through trauma-informed and strength-based practices.

About the Role:

The Community Outreach Specialist will facilitate VAWG awareness and resilience-building programs while establishing a Pan-London 'Experts By Experience' advisory board to ensure that the voices and lived experiences of young women are central to our work. This role involves co-producing and delivering training and awareness-raising initiatives for professionals to enhance their responses to minority young women and girls at risk. Additionally, the Specialist will engage in proactive outreach in non-traditional settings to meet the needs of vulnerable and high-risk young women and girls exposed to violence.

About You:

We are looking for individuals with a strong passion and a solid understanding of the VAWG agenda, particularly the challenges faced by young women and girls from black and minoritized backgrounds. You should have demonstrable experience in developing and delivering training to diverse stakeholders while supporting multi-agency collaboration and the advancement of intersectional, psychologically-informed practices. Your work will empower young women and girls with knowledge about all forms of VAWG, including identifying early warning signs and accessing support.

Through the development and implementation of resilience-building programs, you will foster psychological and emotional resilience in young women and girls, promoting their mental health and well-being, including self-esteem and self-care strategies.

We value a non-judgmental, proactive teamwork approach, ensuring that service users are at the heart of our service delivery. A commitment to Solace's feminist principles, along with a dedication to innovation and continuous improvement, is essential.

What We Offer:

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Focus on learning and development opportunities
  • Generous holiday entitlement
  • Employer pension contributions
  • Family-friendly leave policies
  • Access to Inclusion Networks
  • Daily clinical debriefing
  • Employee Assistance Programme for 24/7 support
  • Employee Benefits Platform with discounts and savings
  • Wellness activities including yoga and meditation

Solace Women's Aid is committed to diversity and equity, encouraging applications from candidates of various cultures, abilities, perspectives, and lived experiences. We are a Disability Confident Employer, dedicated to an inclusive recruitment process.

This service is run by women for women, and as such, this position is restricted to female applicants in accordance with the Equality Act.
