About the Role

HSDC is seeking a highly skilled Additional Learning Support Mentor to join our team. As an Additional Learning Support Mentor, you will play a vital role in delivering mentoring support to learners with additional needs, facilitating drop-ins, and monitoring progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with Teachers and Colleagues: Collaborate with teachers and specialist colleagues to coordinate and implement support plans for students with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Mentor and Support Learners: Provide one-to-one check-ins with trusted staff members to support EHCP learners who require additional support.
  • Monitor Progress: Regularly monitor and report on the progress of students with EHCPs, preparing for annual review meetings.
  • Safeguarding and Welfare: Be responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
  • Health and Wellbeing: Liaise with teachers and colleagues regarding health and wellbeing interventions, maintaining appropriate boundaries regarding student confidentiality and legal requirements.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent service to internal and external customers, adhering to college standards.
Requirements
  • English and Maths: Possess English and Maths qualifications at least at Level 2.
  • Customer Service: Hold a Level 3 Customer Service qualification or be working towards it.
  • SEND Qualification: Possess a Level 2 or 3 qualification in Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) or be working towards it.
  • Understanding of Barriers to Learning: Have a thorough understanding of the barriers to learning faced by students.
  • Experience with Students with Disabilities: Have experience working with students with disabilities and/or difficulties.
  • IT Skills: Be able to use IT systems to record and monitor ALS data and support processes.
