Job Title: Mental Health Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a leading SEN School in Horsham. The successful candidate will work closely with students who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing individualized support and guidance to help them thrive in a challenging environment.

About the Role:
  • Support students with SEMH needs in a primary and secondary setting
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
  • Assist with lesson planning and delivery, adapting to individual student needs
  • Monitor and report student progress, identifying areas for improvement
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to develop and implement behavior management strategies

Requirements:
  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with students who may have experienced trauma
  • Effective behavior management and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A child-only DBS registered on the update service (required)
Location:

Due to the school's location, having your own transport is highly advantageous.

This is a temporary position, with the option to become permanent in the future. Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance 'Keeping Children Safe in Education'.
