Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and innovative Physiotherapist with strong leadership and collaborative skills to become a part of the Children and Young Person's Weight Management Service 'Lighthouse'. The selected candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team, providing a unique chance to influence and enhance the Physiotherapy service delivery.

This is a permanent, part-time role (hours per week), serving across various settings within the Swansea Bay University Health Board regions.

We seek a Physiotherapist with comprehensive clinical expertise and experience working with children, young individuals, and their families, particularly concerning the clinical challenges associated with overweight and obesity.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will operate with a high degree of autonomy, leading the physiotherapy services for Lighthouse, managing a complex caseload, and demonstrating a robust ability to collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing physiotherapy care for children facing overweight and obesity issues, including those with additional learning needs, multiple health challenges, and intricate social situations.
  • Collaborating with a diverse team comprising a clinical lead, psychologist, dietitian, occupational therapist, consultant paediatrician, and support staff, adhering to the All Wales Obesity Pathway for Children and Young People and Welsh Government standards.
  • Engaging with children, young people, families, and team members to deliver a wide range of interventions, including both individual and group sessions.
  • Supervising and mentoring team members while also receiving guidance and mentorship in your role.

Job Responsibilities

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Professional registration with HCPC
  • Post-registration training in a relevant area.

Desirable:

  • Recognized management/leadership qualification

Knowledge

Essential:

  • MSc or equivalent level of knowledge and advanced postgraduate training/experience in relevant areas
  • Understanding of Paediatric Physiotherapy services
  • Experience in audit, research, and quality assurance

Experience

Essential:

  • Extensive experience in Paediatric Physiotherapy.
  • Specialist knowledge in managing common Paediatric disorders such as obesity, learning disabilities, diabetes, and ASD.
  • Significant experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience supervising students, physiotherapy assistants, and junior staff.

Desirable:

  • Experience in strategic planning processes.
  • Experience in policy and service development.

Aptitude and Abilities

Essential:

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including strong oral and written communication abilities with diverse populations.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and delegate tasks effectively.
