Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to join the General Paediatric Psychology Service (GPPS) team, providing psychological interventions to children and young people with medical conditions, and to their families.
Main Responsibilities
The Assistant Psychologist will support Clinical Psychologists working within GPPS, delivering psychological interventions to children, young people, and families through the team's workshop programme and individual sessions. They will also develop resources for the team and wider multidisciplinary team (MDT).
Key Duties
- Assist Clinical Psychologists in delivering psychological interventions to children and families
- Develop resources for the team and MDT
- Assess the effectiveness of the service offered to children, young people, and families
Collaboration and Support
The Assistant Psychologist will work closely with colleagues in education to provide support and resources on the psychological needs of children with medical conditions. They will also provide training and advice on the emotional needs of children with long-term medical needs.
About the Team
The General Paediatric Psychology Service (GPPS) team works alongside multidisciplinary colleagues within General Paediatrics in Swansea Bay University Health Board. The team is expanding, friendly, and supportive, with regular opportunities for continuing professional development (CPD), reflective practice, and sharing ideas and developments.
Language Requirements
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post, but English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
