About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Assistant to join our team at Spicerhaart in Colchester. As a key member of our Health and Safety team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and safety of our employees and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of health and safety data, including accident and incident reports, audit results, and safety checks.
  • Conduct regular inspections and observations of working practices to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement health and safety training programs for employees, in collaboration with the Human Resources and Training Management teams.
  • Support the creation and distribution of safety materials, including policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Assist in the development and revision of health and safety procedures, in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Provide administrative support for emergency response strategies, including fire drills, evacuation plans, and first aid readiness.
  • Investigate and record all accidents and near misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with external consultants to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Monitor and report on health and safety performance metrics, and identify areas for improvement.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a health and safety role, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Health and Safety Qualification at Level 3 or equivalent, with a strong foundation in occupational health and safety.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong understanding of Excel and data analysis.
  • Ability to present information clearly and effectively, with a high level of integrity and commitment to safety.
