Lead Ecological Consultant
ECOSA is excited to announce an opportunity for a Lead Ecological Consultant to become part of our dynamic team.
In this role, you will leverage your ecological knowledge to offer expert guidance and implement a variety of survey and mitigation strategies across a broad spectrum of projects, ensuring that our clients meet their development and conservation objectives.
As a CIEEM Registered Practice, we are dedicated to upholding best practices and advancing the profession positively.
This position is available as a full-time, permanent role, with options for part-time or flexible working arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve and maintain full CIEEM membership (or be actively pursuing this).
- Hold a degree in a relevant discipline.
- Possess a minimum of four years of post-qualification experience in an ecology-focused position, ideally within ecological consultancy.
- Demonstrate extensive experience in conducting protected species and habitat assessments.
- Exhibit strong project management capabilities, particularly for medium to large-scale projects.
- Provide proven expertise in preparing technical documentation, including PEAs, EcIAs, BNG reports, and other related reports.
- Maintain at least one Natural England / Natural Resources Wales protected species class licence.
- Display comprehensive knowledge of pertinent UK and European legislation, policies, and guidelines.
- Be a collaborative team member with exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Show proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Hold a valid driving licence and possess legal eligibility to work in the UK.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with QGIS.
- A specific area of expertise, such as bats, hazel dormouse, reptiles, etc.
- Experience in quality assurance for technical reports.
