The Data Manager role is pivotal in driving commercial growth by delivering top-tier data products. Reporting to the Head of Digital Analytics, you will oversee the production, delivery, and effectiveness of all audience-driven commercial initiatives. You will collaborate with sales teams to execute targeted audience campaigns for advertisers and manage relationships with third-party partners, including our Data Management Platform.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the ideation and execution of audience-focused commercial data products.

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance audience segments, ensuring a consistent taxonomy that is applicable across the organization.
  • Create tailored and standardized audience solutions for all commercial teams.
  • Identify and leverage new data-driven opportunities for commercial initiatives.
  • Collaborate with external advertisers to comprehend their target demographics and design impactful online advertising strategies using insights from our DMP.
  • Provide training and resources for the broader commercial teams.
  • Regularly compile reports and presentations on campaign performance, insights, and recommendations for both the commercial team and external partners.
  • Stay informed about online advertising trends, DMP functionalities, data privacy regulations, and shifts in the ad tech landscape to enhance campaign effectiveness.

Manage the relationship and technical maintenance of the Data Management Platform.

  • Oversee and develop the partnership with the DMP to ensure maximum commercial benefit.

Enhance the portfolio of Hearst Audience products.

  • Manage and expand Hearst's commercial data offerings by integrating first-party data and formulating strategies for data collection that support advertisers and improve campaign outcomes.
  • Ensure all opportunities for data enrichment are identified and pursued.

Data Matching

  • Oversee the Data Matching setup for new advertisers' data through our partners, including test mapping, data enhancement strategies, data modeling, and preparing audience segments for activation, along with KPI communication for ad operations. Additionally, provide insights for campaigns to inform reporting and long-term optimizations.

Digital Analytics

  • Support data and insight initiatives that foster a deeper understanding of user behaviors across our platforms.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand their objectives, provide actionable insights, and develop reports for ongoing evaluation.
  • Offer support, training, and education to the wider organization on utilizing data to drive actions, promoting a culture of self-service.

ABOUT YOU

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing data in an online advertising context, ideally within a media or magazine environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Data Management Platforms (DMPs), particularly Permutive.
  • Strong understanding of Ad Serving Technology (GAM), programmatic advertising ecosystems, and audience segmentation methodologies.
  • Familiarity with data privacy laws and compliance regulations relevant to online advertising.
  • Excellent analytical skills with experience in interpreting data to guide business decisions.
  • Proficient in analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Looker Studio).
